Splurge or Save: Drunk Elephant VS Neutrogena

 Happy Saturday Beauty Bag Dolls I am back with a Splurge or save post for you and it is from two of my favorite brands Drunk Elephant versus Neutrogena. The two products are one's that I use all the time and I have reviewed both on my blog and I am a longtime user (I have been using it for four years) of the Splurge product Drunk Elephant T.L.C.  Sukari Babyfacial and I have been using the Save product Neutrogena Skin Glowing Facial Treatment for a year now. Now while the two products are very similar and for me do the the same thing, exfoliate my skin Weekly and both leave my skin feeling soft and deeply cleansed, each have positives and negatives. The Drunk Elephant is powered by Chickpea flour and is 25% AHA and 2% BHA which is relatively high and leaves skin very red compared to the Neutrogena which is 15% AHA/PHA Blend. This one leaves slightly pink for about 30 minutes whereas Drunk Elephant leaves red for over an hour. Drunk Elephant also burns for about 5 minutes of the 20 minutes you have it on for. Neutrogena is about 2 minutes of tingling and you rinse off after 15 minutes. While everyone's experience will be different with skin discomfort while using a facial treatment I am here to let you know if I think you should spend $20 for the Neutrogena at Ulta or spend $80 at Ulta or Sephora for Drunk Elephant. 

My honest opinion on this Splurge or Save battle is to buy the Save first and see how it works out its what I would do if I didn't fall for Drunk Elephant first. The results are the same but the Drunk Elephant version is clean beauty. My solution to this Splurge Versus Save situation is instead of buying the Drunk Elephant 4 times a year or once each season I now buy it twice a year and I buy the Neutrogena twice a year and one week I will use Drunk Elephant Babyfacial and the next week Neutrogena Skin Glowing Facial Treatment. However if my skin care budget ever changed I know the Save product Neutrogena is a drugstore find that works well.

Neutrogena Skin Glowing Weekly Exfoliating Facial Treatment

 Today is February 1st and while my skincare game is going strong, I am awaiting the arrival of...my new foundation that I finally decided on. I am not sure why it is difficult for me to pick a foundation, but I am leaning toward the fact that I have acne prone skin and it freaks me out to break out when I use a new foundation and apply it in the AM and cannot take it off until PM and with skincare, I usually try it out at night and if an issue arises, I can immediately wash it off. Beauty Bag Dolls let me start by reacting to the primera Mild Facial Peeling Gel this way "Oh My Gosh!" Yes this gave me an Oh My Gosh moment and honestly each time I use it I am so impressed and beyond happy! Primera made its debut on Sephora.com last months and I was so happy to get my hands on it. I used it the same day it arrived and it was a Wednesday which is the day of the week I really love to exfoliate my face since I like to do light to mild exfoliation on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and my deep exfoliation on Sunday. My love for Primera is serious right now. Read on to learn more.

The primera Mild Facial Peeling Gel (pictured on left) is game changing and a must have in your skincare routine. Coming soon review of primera lip balm. 

Some background information about the primera Mild Facial Peeling Gel is first it is clean at Sephora which means it is "formulated without a list of over 50 ingredients, including sulfates (SLS and SLES), parabens, phthalates, and more." The Primera Mild Facial Peeling Gel is a "pH-balancing, no-rinse formula that gently removes makeup and impurities."  It also is a gel formula that "improves texture by gently exfoliating dry, dull surface cells and polishing skin, leaving it feeling soft, silky, and hydrated. Formulated with innovative, double-absorption system that lifts impurities from pores while sweeping away surface buildup; and s protective bio polymer film forms an invisible shield to help protect against environmental factors." Now I love this. After cleansing my face of all my makeup and patting it dry I pump this on to my hands and just begin to massage it on. After a about 15 seconds you will get this little sloughing off of dead skin cells (kind gross, I know but very effective). I continued to just massage my entire face for about a minute and then I choose to rinse my skin with luke warm water. After I dried my face was the Oh My Gosh WOW moment! My face was so silky, buttery soft I could not believe it! The other point I have to mention is that for this being named a Mild Facial Peeling Gel I was a little nervous since I have sensitive skin but I had absolutely no irritation or even redness just a little pink for a couple of minutes which happens to me when I cleanse my face. My skin was left exfoliated and so smooth and ready for skincare to truly be absorbed. The scent is very light and is not bother. This gives you true exfoliation that you can see rolling off your face and is so gentle that I do use this at first 3x's a week but then my skin got extremely healthy that no skin cells were rolling off one of the days of the week so I now use it, on Tuesdays and Thursdays to space it out and give my skin a chance to actually need an exfoliation. This is so gentle that you can use it according to Primera 2 to 3 times a week it is all about what works for you. For me twice a week works best after using it 3 times a week for 2 weeks. I absolutely adore this primera Mild Facial Peeling Gel and will never be without it so I will be stocking up during the Sephora Rouge sale. This is a 5 $$$$$ and gets EXTRA LOVE FROM ANNA!

I am very excited to bring you a review today of a brand that is a first on my blog. It comes from Skinfix and it is their Facial Exfoliating Pads. The Skinfix Facial Exfoliating Pads are dermatologist recommended and are made with natural glycolic, salicylic and lactic acids. I was interested by just reading that and convinced when I read that it was for all skin types. Read on for more information and my experience.

I use these each morning after cleansing to keep my skin smooth and exfoliated before applying the rest of my skin care and makeup! Skinfix is a beauty bag must have!

The Skinfix Facial Exfoliating Pads has 50 presoaked pads that are unscented. According to Skinfix  "each textured pad is formulated with a blend of natural glycolic, salicylic and lactic acids to gently lift away embedded impurities and spent skin cells." After I swiped it across my face waited a few seconds for the inevitable redness and irritation that usually occurs when I try these exfoliating type pad products I was very pleasantly surprised that the complete opposite happened. My skin didn't get irritated! I was so happy because my skin actually looked refreshed and renewed. My face and neck glowed after I used the Skinfix Facial Exfoliating Pads. I became addicted to using these each and every night after cleansing because it really made my skin glow and it was exfoliated and prepped for the rest of my night time skincare routine. The results are amazing and the fact that this is so gentle I can use it each and everyday makes me even more happy. PUR Cosmetics Skincare

#BeautyBagDolls I have been sharing with you products that I love to use in the evening to get Unready. First I am sure you all know how much I love to use masks and exfoliate my skin. I find this to be a very important step even though my skin is sensitive and acne prone. The first product I decided to try out was the PUR Joystick. The Joystick is described as an "all-in-one cleanser, exfoliator and toner foams on contact to instantly draw out dirt, oil and impurities with charcoal and Moroccan Lava Clay. Suitable for all skin types, but specifically formulated for congested, acne-prone skin."  Now when I read it was formulated for acne prone skin I was instantly drawn to it. I used it on clean makeup free skin that was damp. It was easy to roll up the stick it come in and run it across my face in a circular motion. I massaged it to a cream lather and rinsed. My skin looked and felt refreshed along with being brighter. I used this twice a week and noticed improvement in my skin's texture immediately. I love the PUR Joystick and will not be without it. Next is the PUR Blue Agave Mask. As you may already know I am a mask addict and now I am a PUR Blue Agave Mask lover/addict I use this twice a week and it is described as "an Energy Complex of green tea, ginseng and Vitamin B helps stimulate the skin’s natural metabolism for the look of plumper, hydrated and refreshed skin. The cooling sensation and uplifting scent will leave your skin feeling totally revived." I used this on clean dry skin as direct and applied a thick layer leaving it on for 15 minutes and peel it away. I love peel away masks but this one is my favorite. The sensation it gives is a gentle cooling and tingling while it is applied to the skin it comes off easily but don't put on a thin layer or it will not peel off and you will end up only washing it off which trust me peeling it off is what you want to do. It takes all of the junk out of your pores and it is awesome. My skin was left feeling hydrated, plump, clean and glowing. It did not feel striped or dry just soft and supple. This is added to my nighttime get unready with me routine without a doubt. Worth your time and money like the PUR Joystick another 5 $$$$$ that gets EXTRA LOVE FROM ANNA!

I used these each and every night after cleansing and from the first use I knew it was special but after just a week I could see my pore size reduce which is more than welcomed on my acne prone skin. Everything I received in the package were items that I am going to use everyday but your skincare needs are different on different days and Daily Concepts truly address that need with a wide variety of products to choose from. The first item I decided to use was the Daily Concepts Your Exfoliating Gloves. I choose these because my sunless tanner was fading and I wanted to get a good exfoliation on my skin to prep for a new application of sunless tanner in a few days.
